Being born and bred in Southeast Asia, with a mother who cooks nonya cuisine daily (Chinese-Malay cuisine typical of the Straits-born Chinese), I have high expectations when dining in a Southeast Asian restaurant, as well as a high tolerance for anything spicy and highly aromatic.

Bali-Papaya: Finally a Place for Indonesian Food!
With three Indonesian and two Thai chefs, Bali-Papaya fills a needed niche for those who don’t want the spiciness of typical Thai cuisine, or the heartiness of Vietnamese cuisine. It is a welcome addition to the Beijing dining scene and should become a popular haunt very soon.

An artfully designed Southeast Asian restaurant and hotel that mimics its surroundings, the French Concession.

A fairly new concept to Shanghai and the French Concession is that of the Bed & Breakfast. And, while Le Voyage Asian Kitchen, part of the Ke Tang Jian Group, a restaurant cum hotel is not a B&B in the traditional sense, its classical presence with a cozy interior is a great spot for both diners and overnight guests.
