Having relatives from Hungary and having visited Budapest in the past, I know a thing or two about Hungarian pastries. Many regard Hungarian pastries as among the finest in the world (alongside French pastries), the classic Hungarian dessert being the Dobos Torte, dating from 1887. Joseph Dobos published his recipe in 1906, although I have never had the Dobos Torte prepared exactly the same way twice.
