Situated in the courtyard of an old French villa, this restaurant is also something of a showcase for fascinating Vietnamese photographs from French colonial times.
Dishes are inevitably influenced by Chinese and French food cultures, providing a good balance between strong and light flavors. Six cold dishes from Vietnam - lobster pork rolls; taw spring rolls: deep-fried river lobster pancake; salted pork and potatoes; citronella chicken wing; and deep-flied chicken with citronella - are available, along with hot meals such as crisp, savory, spicy soft-shell crab. Fried yellow curry crab is cooked with onion and red pepper cubes. Hanging roasted chicken is seasoned with preserved tofu paste and garlic, producing a crispy but tender meal. Mango chicken-shred salad is teamed with cabbage, cucumber, peanut kernels and laver. The cool, very tasty three-color ice-cream contains mustard shreds and a coconut liquid.
Among wine listings are Chilean whites, Australian reds and pink champagne.
The cheerful waiters are very considerate to customer, and familiar with
individual dishes and wines.
