Toscana's menu is interesting and varied, with several rural Italian dishes (such as flesh rabbit) that are a pleasant surprise to find on a menu in Shanghai. Many of the dishes exceed all expectations. The seafood salad, for instance, is a delight, with fresh steamed scallops, mussels and tiny fish, simply dressed in olive oil and lemlon juice—the produce perfect and the preparation delicate and light. Similarly, the beef carpaccio is freshm finely cut and delicious. whilst the 650 gram Bistecca Fiorentina (Tuscany's signature dish - a huge grilled beef T-bone), was overwhelmed with a strong herb dressing. The tagliatelle with lobster, crabmeat and tomato sauce is tasty, although the pasta could do with being a little more al dente. To finish, there is a mix of special Italian imported desserts, and some very good homemade items, such as watermelon gelato.
A comprehensive and nicely priced list of wines from Italy and around the world, with complete tasting notes and ratings, and a good selection of Champagne and grappa are on offer.
The bilingual waiting staff are pleasant and efficient
