One of the top dim sum brunches.
When it comes to traditional dim sum, it is all about value. The key criteria being great tasting food at a low price and if they have great service and nice décor those are an added bonus. Zen5es gets it right with these dishes, which are the essentials of Dim Sum:

Har Gao -- my favorite of all dim sum dishes. Encased in a dumpling-like skin with two shrimp with tiny pieces of bamboo. This dish is steamed, and the shrimp fairly plump.Prawny and oily, this is a most agreeable dish.

Shu Mai -- another standard dumpling-like dish. It is a pork dumpling with an egg/wonton skin, and great for Beijing standards. Definitely an above average attempt, it had a meatball consistency and taste.

Pan Fried Turnip Cakes - a joy to eat, with the signatured charred starchy saltiness.

Rice Noodles dishes - the cho fun shouldn’t be super squishy or slimy, and shrimp or meats should be plump. Zen5es rice wraps were smooth, with a good thickness, and a lively bounce. The soya sauce with a subtle tinge of sweetness, coupled with the thick tender fragrant fillings made it a wonderful, must try.

Steamed Pork Buns with Crab Roe - were white puffy, soft and fluffy. The pork was tender and the crab had a seafood rich flavor. The seafood and shrimp dishes in general at Zen5es have a great seafood flavor.

Charisu Puffs - a little papery, but the juicy honey filling more than made up for any deficiencies.

Deep Fried Yam Paste Dumplings - had a fragile crust with a silky yam center. It exuded richness.

Sesame Balls -- dessert. These sweet sesame shells are filled with red bean paste. With the shell crunchy on the outside, slightly chewy in the middle, and having the consistency of refried beans on the inside, Zen5es is a must.

Egg tarts - dessert number two. General guideline: they should be the size of a coaster, not a large mushroom. Also, the filling should taste almost like flan. Unfortunately, Zen5es were not piping hot, and the center egg custard was gummy.

Of course, the best part of Zen5es dim sum is halfway through when the bamboo steamers pile up. You feel like a king!
A dazzling array of dim sum for less than 200rmb, the Westin Beijing Chaoyang's fine dining Chinese restaurant is one of the top dim sum brunches.
